My Most Anticiptated: Rodarte

One of the most innovative labels in fashion, Rodarte’s use of color and texture wows me every time.  I was so in love with their Fall 08 collection I couldn’t wait to see Spring.  While the ready to wear line is not exactly wearable, they didn’t disappoint with their ethereal aesthetic. As always, love the legwear! (photos from style.com

Marc Misses

I just returned from a 2 week trip to India so, having missed all of NY Fashion Week, will just make a few tiny comments. To many people, Marc Jacobs can do no wrong. True, the guy is super talented and has a larger workload than most designers (2 labels of his own plus Louis Vuitton), but I'm going there anyway. After hopping off a 15 hour flight and rushing home to catch up on all I'd missed, I deserve to know: WTF? Someone please tell me: Did I miss something?

New York Fashion Week

The press hasn't been very enthusiastic about the upcoming NY Fashion Week, but we think this one will deliver. Spring 2008 Collections will be showing during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in NYC from September 5 - 12, but plenty of other parties, events and shows will be occurring all over the city for the two weeks enveloping fashion week. Check our blog for updates on our favorite shows and the independent designers we're really into, like Alexander Wang:

and Vena Cava:

and take a look at Refinery29's excellent video interviews with several of these independent designers.

A Standout at New York Fashion Week

A lot of designers played it safe for their F/W 2007 collections. Dark tights and metallic babydoll dresses could be found at almost every show. That's why I was so impressed with Myself by Kai Kuhne (Kuhne was previously with the label As Four). His collection is classy and beautiful, but with unique, fun details that set it apart from anything else I saw.

Or this gorgeous neutral piece with asymmetrical neck and chic hat:

Love the Look: Gloves

We were bad bloggers during New York Fashion Week with all the beautiful people in amazing outfits prancing around. We admit we fell victim to conspicuous consumption, and fall hard we did. However, we made sure to take notes on all the trends we loved (and didn't) so we could share them with you later (now). Our favorite accessories on the runways were gloves in all styles and colors. Gloves are one of the easiest ways to spice up an outfit because anyone can were them and fit is not an issue.
