Capsule Men's Indie Fashion Trade Show

Here at Fashion Playlist, we love and support indie style, from designers to boutiques to creatives like make-up and hair stylists, and all the amazing fashion bloggers that let us know what's hip and happening around the world.

We're guilty of focusing on women's fashion, and they guys are always like, "dude, that's cool but where can I find indie guys stuff?" Enter Capsule, the fashion event that brings "the world's most directional independent menswear designs, super premium streetwear and lifestyle brands together under one roof." Giddyup.

The next event will take place in NYC this inauguration eve and day (Jan. 19 & 20 for those not politically inclined) in the amazing neo-gothic Angel Orensanz Foundation Center for the Arts on the Lower East Side.

You can see a list of the emerging designers chosen by an uber-experienced board of advisors (from owners of cool boutiques like Seven New York to GQ fashion editors). Not sure why they included Nike, maybe they have some cool capsule collection.

Where:
172 Norfolk Street, New York, NY 10002
b/t Houston and Stanton
When:
Monday, January 19
Tuesday, January 20

Sample Sales: Edite Showroom

We love Edite Showroom in NYC's garment district. They rep some of the hottest up-and-coming designers, their style instinct is killer, and the women who founded the company are just really cool, wonderful people (somewhat rare in this industry).

They'll have pieces from Vassilisa, LiaLia, Lovenia, Caroline Hedaya, Charles & Victoria, Verrieres et Sako, Anjali Kumar, Pamp Lesmosses, Your Slip is Showing, Gretchen, Brynn Hudson, and Tagua. Never heard of these designers? Get out of your rut and trust Edite's judgement. Their designers are high-end and you know you'll love showing off your new emerging designer threads. You don't want to look the same as everyone else. You live in NYC!

Get ready because next week you can get your hands on some of their amazing finds. Lines sold at Bendels, Saks & Fred Segal for $200-$1200 will be on sale at the showroom for $50-$500!

When: December 8-10 (Mon-Wed), 10:00AM - 7:00PM
Where: Edite Showroom, 134 W. 29th St. b/t 6th & 7th, Studio 709, NYC

In addition to the Edite sale, Daily Candy lists a literal slew of other sample sales around the city starting this weekend, including Alexander Wang, Vivienne Westwood, and Proenza Schouler.

BUST Craftacular: LA, London & NYC

This year, the BUST Holiday Craftacular is going to be 3 times the fun, with events in NYC, LA, & London!

Craftacular is a fantastic place to pick up your holiday gifts. Last year Amy Sedaris (left) was selling her home-made tchotchkes and she'll sign them for you too. She inscribed several copies of her hilarious hospitality book, I Like You, for my unenlightened friends who didn't yet own a copy. I then bought a bunch of cool baby hoodies by Saltlick for the small army of kids my friends were popping out, and some ironic needlepoint sets for my crafty friends, knit hats and scarves for everyone else. There are plenty of items for everyone on your list, and you're unlikely to find these things anywhere else. Everything's made with love and a sense of humor.

Crafty Bastards: Washington, DC

"Hey there, you crafty bastards..." That's how the Washington City Paper welcomes you to the 5th Annual Crafty Bastards Arts & Crafts Fair.

If you're in or around DC on Sunday, September 28th, you should check out the crafty bastards that will be selling their handmade wares. The festival will take place from 10am-5pm at the Marie Reed Learning Center in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington, DC. This really is a lovely little craft fair. The weather is usually gorgeous this time of year and the neighborhood has plenty of good food and some indie shopping. (And I'm not just saying that because Unsung used to live there!)

Check out all the crafty bastards here, including some current Unsung Designers and Unsung alum (Barefoot Czarina, Mignonette, Saltlick & Jon Wye:
